As I write this last message for the 2012-13 school year, students have finished their semester two exams, staff are busy calculating final grades, completing report cards and even preparing for our next school year. As parents, educators, support staff – our secretaries, educational assistant, caretakers and business manager – we all share in the successes of our students and celebrate their accomplishments in this newsletter.
To those students who are graduating and continuing their pathway beyond the halls of Pearson, putting your best efforts forth academically has been as significant as caring for your school and one another. Your years of membership to the arts, athletics and clubs, and assisting with fundraising, performances, supervision and tournaments is truly appreciated.
As this school year comes to an end, we say good-bye to a number of staff transferring to other schools for September and moving on to other opportunities. Thank-you to Mr. Doug Barr, Mr. Michael Crabtree, Mr. Andrew Esp, Mr. Tim Faulhafer, Mr. Matt Jenkins, Mrs. Erin Kolodziej, Mr. Paul Legault, Mr. Geoff Mills, Mrs. Amber Mitchell, Ms. Ginette Peters, Ms. Kelly Peterson, Mr. Ross Plant, Mrs. Kerry Racicot, Mrs. Connie Scott and Mr. Scott Wharam for all their offerings during their time with us. A special note of recognition to our teachers who are retiring: Ms. Marilyn MacLennan and Mr. Randy Williams for their contributions both within and beyond the classroom, as well as in Halton during their career. All who are leaving have a place in the history and tradition of Pearson.
We welcome back Ms. Lisa Coupe and Mr. Michael Moore, and returning from a leave Ms. Kathy Compton-Morgan, Mrs. Lisa Galay and Mrs. Sunaina Sharma. We offer a warm welcome to new staff to Pearson: Ms. Antonia “Toni” Burton, Mr. Ryan Candlish, Ms. Jacelyn Lambert, Ms. Melinda MacLean, and Ms. Leah McCann. We continue the hiring process for other vacancies and should have those filled by September.
Enhancing the technologies in our building is a priority for instruction and student learning . Over the summer our Computer Technology Lab will see the installation of high performance Dell machines and the Business department computers refurbished with high end HP machines. As well, completion of our Smart board rollout will result in this technology being available in our Social Sciences area, Special Education, Science and Math department, and all technology classrooms, in addition to the Tablets and mobile lap top carts. And of course we have a new school sign at the entrance to our property; we look forward to the connection of the digital reader board to keep our community informed of our activities and accomplishments throughout the year.
Wishing all students, staff and families a safe summer holiday filled with adventure, laughter and sunshine. I look forward to seeing you all refreshed, eager and ready to reconnect in September.
