Our Parent Council continues to support the Pearson Community through our monthly meetings and as representatives on the LBP/MMR Integration Committee. Our next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday November 21st at 7pm. AGENDA is attached.
The second LBP/MMR Integration Meeting was held this past month. Outcomes of this meeting are HERE. The formation of sub-committees for Memorabilia and Artifacts, and Closing Ceremonies are being organized. We welcome members and working members for these two groups; if interested complete the Expression of Interest FORM by December 1st . A Student Voice sub-committee is also being formed with students from both schools where they will be tasked with collecting input from the student body, answering questions, and problem solving concerns. Also, they will be organizing a welcome/back assembly in September 2018. In addition, PEP and LINK student leaders, from both LBP and MMR respectively, recently hosted the Grade 8 Parent Information Sessions. The commitment of our LBP students and their staff advisors with those of MMR resulted in a terrific evening of information for over 600 families from the Graduating Class of 2022. Please refer to photos of students planning for this evening at this WEBSITE LINK. Last month, LBP families received notification of the MOE Administrative Review of the PAR. Next steps include Public Petitioner Meetings; refer to the Board’s PAR Implementation webpage linked to our school website for further information about this process.
As winter approaches so too, do many religious festival events. What they mean, the important stories, the food associated, and how particular events are celebrated are important for many students and their families in our Pearson Community. Your own religious holidays, whatever your tradition, may require Faith Accommodations as we approach students’ Final Evaluations of Semester One. Please keep us informed of any requests for this reason. In addition, a reminder FINAL EVALUATION TASKS (30% of final grade) shared with students and families back in September:
All students are expected to be present for Performance Task Evaluations and Final Exams. Students must be available and plan their time wisely to prepare for these important evaluations. The only exceptions are for medical reasons verified by a doctor’s certificate. The Performance Task and Final Exam dates for each semester are posted on the school website.
And all the while, we continue to enhance the success of our students with their academics and co-curricular activities. Please refer to a few of the highlights attached.
