The Autumn Season has been full of an exciting, action packed array of activities with many students engaged in extracurricular Athletics, Arts, Clubs, and Councils. I continue to be honoured with the commitment of staff to our students’ education and their incredible gift of time to sustain the extracurricular programs at Pearson.
With mid-terms behind us and Performance Tasks around the corner, our students are taking advantage of Literacy and Numeracy Clinics/Programs, as well as Study Hall to enhance their achievement. Classroom teachers are available for support; please consult with them should your child require additional help. 15th Week of the Semester Progress Reports will be sent by email the week of December 7th should there be any concerns about academic progress.

Our School Improvement Plan this year will target the student use of technology in the classroom and it's effectiveness. The goal we will explore is :
What impact does effectively integrating technology, specifically use of teacher IT Classroom platforms, have on student engagement ?
Teachers have been perfecting their use of the Google Classroom and classroom websites to meet the needs of students. They will continue to receive feedback from both students and parents about the effectiveness of such strategies and refine where necessary. Aligning with this goal will be further action of our PAC as they work with our community to explore on-going strategies to meet the social and emotional needs of our students; in conjunction with Pearson's Safe School Action Team, they are focusing on student use of social media that result in negative behavior such as discrimination, harassment and bullying. They look forward to your support and participation.
Fundraising outcomes for Terry Fox, Malala Foundation, Coats for Kids, Gift of Giving Christmas Campaign, Mackenzie Hope Foundation , and Food Drives continue to amplify the needs of our community and abroad. As well, our PAC recently connected with COBS Bakery about a "Dough Raiser" for Pearson High School (see details on the attached SAC Newsletter). The donations of students and their families display the compassion and care our Pearson community value, and for that I am both grateful and thankful for your support.
Wishing your family peace and joy during the upcoming holiday,
Loraine Fedurco, Principal

A student lounge area with tub chairs for working individually, partners and in groups will also be created.
We continue to explore areas of the building where students have expressed a need for electrical hook-up for their IT devices to complete work during spares and lunches.
The debut of the newly formed Upper Middle Symphonic Band and Choir, an amalgamation of students from both Pearson and M. M. Robinson High Schools, provided a wealth of musical entertainment at the LBP’s Fall Commencement and at the Halton Learning Foundation Gala. They will continue to entertain at other evening venues at both High Schools in the coming year.
CHAMPS ! CHAMPS ! CHAMPS ! Outstanding sportsmanship and competition overwhelmed our Fall Sports Leagues with “LBP Champions” prevailing in Varsity Football, Sr. Boys Volleyball, Jr. Boys Volleyball, and Sr. Girls Basketball. The commitment of players to these sports as well as to Jr. Girls Basketball, Field Hockey, and Cross Country has resulted in all our participants being Patriot Champions !
Remembrance Day Assembly was a highly charged event with an incredible performance by our Pearson Performers in Drama and Music. We look forward to their performance at the Sear Festival in the New Year.
