A number of activities have been planned for our starting month with the PEP Crew preparing for the arrival of our incoming Grade 9s, our Terry Fox Run, University and College presentations, Student Parliament, Athletics, Arts and other clubs will be awaiting your participation. Becoming part of school life can enrich your academic experience and enhancing your academic experience leads to better achievement. Challenging and aspiring to be your best must be a goal for everyone.
REASONS FOR TIMETABLE CHANGES:
- You have a conflict and a course could not be scheduled.
- You have too few courses – Grades 9 & 10 students must have 8, Grade 11 at least 7, Grade 12 at least 6.
- You do not have the prerequisite course – e.g. you failed Grade 10 math and need to repeat it before taking Grade 11.
- You have received a letter in this mailing asking you to make an appointment.

OPENING DAY SCHEDULE:
In line with the Ministry of Education initiative focusing on student success, we are meeting in the gym at 8:00 am with our Grade Nine students and senior mentors to ensure a good start to the school year. The focus is on developing school skills to ensure success. The remainder of our students will join us at 11:30 am. Should your child be bussed, there will be supervised activities in the cafeteria from 8:15-11:30 am. Grade 9 students are to meet at 8:00 am in the gym.

Student Engagement Fee (OPTIONAL):
$30.00 can be paid online effective August 1st at cashlessschools.com. Fee includes a laminated photo identification card. This card allows admittance to all school functions, including membership on school teams and clubs, attendance at dances and also doubles as a library card. These fees offset costs: Grade 9 Transition, Welcome, Yearly Activities, PEP, Grad Breakfast, High Level Competitions: OFSAA, Sears Drama, Tech Olympics, Student Excellence and Commencement, Curtain Call – Year End Student Awards Show, Student Parliament Grant process led by student leaders for all clubs, teams, and events.
Lockers will be assigned and distributed in period 1 classes on the first day. Please bring a Dudley lock on the first day of classes and be prepared to provide the combination. There is no changing the location of the locker. Lockers are assigned.
Information regarding pick-up and drop off times and locations is available through the Halton District School Board website (www.hdsb.ca). Bus schedules will be posted at the school as of August 21st.
The Pearson Advisory Council is actively seeking members of our parent community. Our first meeting is Tuesday, September 17th at 7:00 pm in the library. Elections will be held for voting members and information will be shared about upcoming meetings at that time.
