We have had an exciting start‐up as arrays of community events unfold. From Grade 9 Welcome Events to Grade 12 Post‐secondary planning, the Fall sports of Boys Volleyball and Football, Girls Field Hockey, Girls Basketball and Cross Country, the beat of our School Band, tunes from our Choir and many other activities of Athletic Council, Environment Club, PEP Crew, Social Justice and Student Parliament, we are well on our way to promoting the spirit of our youth with the support of their parents/guardians.
Welcome Back Pearson Families!
Our message to students for this term’s start up was three fold: set a goal that will lead to academic success, engage in an activity within our school community, and to make responsible choices that ensures respect towards one another and for oneself.
Family presence is valued by our students at our extracurricular events. We know that
student participation in such opportunities correlates with their academic achievement. Relationships developed with peers and teachers outside the classroom foster a positive sense of belonging and engagement with school. Our most recent “Floodlight Football Game” on October 10th was a wonderful school wide event, well attended by students, parents, staff and community members. The Pearson pride, spirit and victory of our Patriots dominated the evening!
Parent involvement is also important to the academic success of students in high school. A place to start is to assist your child with his/her Learning Skills. Review the progress of your child throughout the semester and follow‐up with teachers after the 5th week, midterm, and 15th week reports to discover the strategies teachers are implementing when a student is struggling, and participate in the upcoming Student/Parent/Teacher Conferences to be held this year PRIOR to the midterm reports being sent home.
We welcome new staff to Pearson this year:
