Our goal as a club is to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health and wellness, provide students with support and safe spaces, inform students about mental wellness, and make the member of our school community aware of positive coping strategies. The Parent Information Night is meant to inform parents about the support system at Lester B. Pearson and the community resources that are available. We also want to answer any questions parents have about how to recognize the mental health needs and support the mental wellness of their teens. At Lester B. Pearson we feel that it is important to raise awareness about mental wellness due to the increasing rates of students experiencing mental health issues.
Dr. Saunders from the Reach Out Centre for Kids has agreed to speak at this event and inform the community about the rising issues about mental health in schools. We gladly invite you to participate as well. Speakers and/or representatives from a variety of community services to set up information booths that parents can visit on an informal gallery walk.
